This is a great old bar space that goes back to prohibition. It’s been “Tim’s Corner Bar” since 1979, and Tim Zyra is one of the nicest owner-bartenders I’ve ever met. The neighborhood bar vibe is nice, and while I didn't eat there, the food gets high marks from locals. Recommended if you’re in the area.

Tim appears to have owned the place since September 1979. A quick lookup in online newspaper archives of bars in this location produced only a few stories. In 1945 it was Roman's Beer Garden, and by the early 1960s it was Stanley's Bar. Stanley’s ran afoul of the law in 1962 by “selling drinks on Sundays, hiring female bar maids [horrors!], and operating a noisy tavern.”
